In a recent interview with Billboard Magazine Nile Rodgers has this to say about when the new album will be released:
"The album is still coming this year; no question in my mind. It has to be fourth quarter at this point. We’re down to recording the last three songs. I’ve been somewhat protective of it, like a child. But I’ve got to let it grow up."
Nile Rodgers recently posted the below photos, of him and CHIC vocal Folami, telling us: "..enjoying a little summer between song takes. CHICorg music almost finished."
BTW. Folami recently had a birthday and I (pocat) made this little thing celebrating her special day.
..continuing about Nile's Billboard interview, he also talks about the unreleased Diana Ross track "Queen", yet again confirming it was not written for the CHIC Org. album "diana" (1980), but later:
"I wrote “Queen” 25 years ago at least after I was with Diana at a Julio Iglesias concert at Radio City in New York. Iglesias announced that his “queen” Diana Ross was in the audience. I tried to get her to do the song years ago, but she wouldn’t. She thought people would think she was being egotistical. “Queen” is a very emotional song. I got the musical concept for it from a group I loved, the Family Stand. Elton John and Janelle Monáe pull it off perfectly."
Diana, you may remember, had a single out with Julio at that time.
We can also report that a Jalapeño Margeritha drink is henceforth called "a Nile Rodgers", at least according to a Brooklyn club. :)
